Asheville Division US Naval Sea Cadet Corps
What is the Sea Cadets Corps?
The Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a federally chartered youth training organization which helps young people, ages 14 to 17, to explore careers in the Navy and Coast Guard, both ashore and afloat. The Naval Sea Cadet Corps objectives are to develop good citizenship, self-discipline, a greater sense of responsibility and leadership skills. The program is open to all young Americans regardless of race, color, creed, or sex. The Navy League Cadet Corps is for young people ages 11 (10 with approval) to 13 years old wanting to explore Navy and military life in an age-appropriate setting.
Both age groups have the opportunity to train with active duty Navy and Coast Guard units and Sea Cadet officers in optional summer training evolutions.
The Asheville Division usually drills on the third full weekend of the month. Weekend drills are a regular part of being a cadet, and cadets should make every effort to attend. Our cadets are kept busy with challenging and exciting activities throughout the year, including course work, community service, and special training sessions.
Since 1958 the Naval Sea Cadet Corps has been committed to providing American youth with a drug and alcohol free environment to foster their leadership abilities, broaden their horizons through hands-on training and guide them to becoming mature young adults. If you believe your son or daughter would benefit from this exciting program, please see our contact page for information on how to reach our officers.
